The school year is in full swing, but that doesn’t mean children can’t find time to have fun, discover new stories and enjoy the world of books. This October, SBA READS is bringing kids and pre-teens together for Reading & Fun, a special event designed to make reading an enjoyable and memorable experience for young readers.
Taking place at the SBA READS Bookstore in Arizona on Saturday, October 3, 2026, the event will give children an opportunity to spend time with books, participate in reading activities, meet other young readers and simply have fun.
What Is Reading & Fun?
Reading & Fun is a children’s reading event created to encourage young people to develop a positive relationship with books and reading.
Rather than making reading feel like another school assignment, the event is built around enjoyment, stories and social interaction. Children will have the opportunity to explore books and take part in activities in an environment where reading can feel exciting, relaxed and enjoyable.
Whether your child already loves reading or is still discovering an interest in books, Reading & Fun is designed to give them an opportunity to engage with stories at their own pace.
A Day of Reading, Fun and Connection
Books can open up new worlds for children, but reading doesn’t have to be a solitary activity. Reading & Fun gives children the opportunity to experience books alongside other young readers. They can discover stories, talk about what they are reading, participate in activities and enjoy spending time with children who share similar interests.
For parents, it is also an opportunity to introduce a meaningful activity that encourages children to spend less time on screens while still allowing them to have fun during their free time. The event will include books and reading materials, as well as snacks and lunch, so children can focus on enjoying the experience.

Location: SBA READS Bookstore, Arizona
Cost: $49.99 per child
The $49.99 registration fee covers the child’s admission to the event, books to be read during the programme, snacks and lunch. Spaces are available for children and pre-teens who are ready for a day of stories, reading and fun.

Registration should be completed separately for each child attending the event. During registration, parents or guardians will be asked to provide the child’s name, guardian’s name and contact details, as well as their location. Parents will also be asked whether the child has any known allergies and whether the child will be accompanied by an adult.
What Should Children Bring?
Children should come dressed comfortably so they can participate fully in the day’s activities. We recommend that they wear trousers and a top and bring socks. Parents should also make sure that any known allergies are clearly indicated during registration so the event team can take the necessary information into consideration.
